The President has a great record to run on. Thanks to his stimulus plan we are the only country that has been on the road to recovery. The European countries chose the Republican/Ryan plans of austerity and they're in double dip recession's with very high unemployment.
If only the Republican's in Congress hadn't voted against 19 separate jobs bills over the last two years we would be much better off. So when are the REPUBLICANS going to take responsibility for their economic policies with regard to refusing to pass jobs legislation and when is the media going to start discussing it?
Tell the truth instead of pushing the corporate agenda.
Just how is Obama actually helping a family whose maid and butler are asking them for a raise? Would not a higher level of unemployment help put a stop to their whining?
Obama is helping everyone by trying to pass jobs legislation. It's the Republicans in Congress who have refused to or filibustered all 19 jobs bills over the last two years. That's not Obama's fault nor is it the Democrats fault. That's solely the fault of the Republicans fault, and as I recall that is the one issue that the Republicans ran on in 2010 - jobs creation. So tell me why have they refused to vote for every single jobs bill that have come across their desk? All 19 of them?
Additionally, the Republicans have refused to raise any taxes at all. They only want to cut. In business, you have to have two things to succeed, collect revenue or incoming funds which is the most important factor by far, and secondarily cuts to wasteful spending. Without the first your business fails. The first part revenue, my friend is taxes. If you can't produce revenue whether it is by selling your product in business or by collecting taxes in government then you fail. This is why Republican businessmen make such lousy politicians they don't understand how government works.
Are we better off today than we were 4 years ago? Absolutely! Do you remember 4 years ago? I remember sitting in front of my television watching my retirement account drop $10,000 to $30,000 per day, recover a few thousand then drop again. My house value dropped. My net worth was cut in half in a matter of 6 months. Our banking system was on the verge of collapse.Every day companies were announcing lay-offs from 10,000 to 50,000 jobs. The auto industry was about to shut down taking another 2,000,000 jobs with it. I had just retired and I was, for the first time in my life scared to death about the future. I couldn't sleep. I felt tense and nauseous all the time.
We have stopped hemorrhaging jobs. Home values have stabilized and are beginning to increase. The stock market is almost back to where it was before the crash. New jobs are being created.
Mitt Romney says that Barrack Obama has presided over the only net loss of jobs in his four years in office. That is only if you count from January 1 to January 1. Bush was still in office until January 20. If you start counting from March, allowing Obama to be sworn in and a month to get going, he has a net gain in jobs and and George Bush is the only president presiding over a loss in jobs in history. BTW using that method gives Reagan a few million more jobs and Bill Clinton a few million fewer so this is not just rigging numbers. It is absurd to count the first 3 months of the year a person becomes president, since he was not in office for 1/3 of that time and cannot possibly have implemented policies that would have any effect, positive or negative, in that time. My figures come from the department of labor.
Of course we're better off than we were 4 years ago. 4.4 million people now have jobs. Wall Street is humming along at an unprecedented rate. 36 million more Americans now have health insurance when they never could before (and we tax payers don't have to pay for it). The Auto industry was saved and is not only profitable but number one in the world again.
All of this with the Republicans killing/filibustering 19 jobs bills and firing over 650,000 government workers and killing several private projects like the NY/NJ tunnel project and the light rail projects which would have employed tens of thousands of additional Americans.
Obama and the Democrats have not only done their jobs they have put us on the road to a steady recovery. The Republican's however have done everything in their power to kill American jobs and stall this recovery and want to go back to the very policies that killed the economy.
Vote straight Democrat in November.
If you run into republocrat governor of Mississippi lite jay Nixon, (the state that gave us akin), ask him why he is worshipping at the shrine of grover norquist, not even willing to support the Amc ballot initiative to increase the nation's lowest cigarette tax, even as he hypocritically and sanctimoniously appears on all cardinal baseball games telling kids not to smoke. Missouri has become a sick place...my candidates Obama and Claire will lose..this piece of crappola and akin will win.
