Priorities USA did not go too far. It spoke of a family who was dislocated as a result of actions taken by Bain Capitol. The man never said Mitt Romney or Bain killed his wife. It is never mentioned once and I don't believe anyone comprehended that from the commercial. The man mentioned he was laid off and lossed his insurance as a result. He later found a job making 50% less. It has been discovered (as a result of extensive research) that she did have insurance when she was originally diagnosed; however, she did lose her insurance and neither of them could afford the healthcare costs. It is true that people get laid off all of the time; however, no one ever sheds light on how it impacts the people and what they go through to bounce back. This commercial did that. We promote companies like Bain for making good business decisions on behalf of its investors (those decisions cause massive layoffs) then we blame our political opponents for the unemployment rate. The rich are to get richer at all costs and without repercussion and the little guy...oh, well.
The ad is right on target. Capitalism means brutal exploitation, but it does not have to be cruel to people and their standard of living. If you reconfigure a corporation, consider the human factor or else it is no better than the misanthropic behavior of an immoral oligarchy.
Joe, etal: You all miss the point. The character in the ad has been consistently telling HIS STORY for years. It is not made up. Romney comes off as not caring. Romney has had lots of time to respond and correct facts. He has not. Get off Burton/Obama. They are just relaying the sad truth.
So true Morning Joe you missed the point! You people are so intelligent you're stupid. The ad was not calling Romney a murderer. It was just pointing out the hard cold truth. Americans are living this ad everyday! Wakeup MoJoe!! Greed(corporations) is destorying american families. The USA is being destoryed within. Big money cares little about the average person. It's all about the dollar and this ad hits home. We are too smart to fall for all that bull you were talking about this morning. I was completely caught off guard when I tuned in this morning. I could not believe how far to the right (I know it's a conservative show) you went with this. Really!!!!
Another lie propagated by Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House. The lie: President Obama is dismantling the work requirement of the Welfare to Work legislation of 1996. I am glad John Hiedlemann (spelling) had the nerve to challenge Newt on his assertion. Joe and Mika gave him a pass. The law will not be dismantled. It is still being enforced as it is written. There is no need for Republicans to fear. Two Republican Governors (Utah and Nevada) requested waivers to how their states implement the law due to the struggle staff is having meeting the requirements. The states are engaging recipients in work related activities; however, the tracking of the Job Participation Rates, known as JPRs, is requiring an enormous amount of time. They want the time to make sure more recipients get the work skills needed to connect to the workforce.
sorry .. i have a hard time concentrating on the actual discussions. there's mika mugging (clearly she thinks it is cute or precious) and making faces, and being constantly overtalked ... in the very same dress every day. there's joe literally phoning it in again and again, and constantly talking over mika, which she appears to abhor but clearly loves the dynamic. there are uncomfortable-looking men sitting around the table wondering if mika is going to hit joe or if joe's going to hit mika. i mean honestly, have you ever looked at the expressions on those men's faces when the camera suddenly cuts to them in the middle of an M&J tussle? soooo embarrassed. they *have* to be thinking "i thought i was going to be on a show talking about current political issues, not watching a lame reality-news-opposite-sides farce."
with all that human interaction going on, it's hard for me to listen to them arguing over a commercial ..... for, what, a half-hour?
i'm not sure if everybody on that show simply is phoning it in because MSNBC is dead, or just what happened, but i started watching this show a few months ago - initially because i was trying to figure out if mika and joe were married because of those weird hate/adoring reactions from mika. the ad photos are particularly overly-sweet and it is jarring to see a photo of mika looking adoringly at joe as if he invented the moon when they cut to commercial, when in real-time he just insulted her and overtalked her and she clearly appears to be so angry she is going to explode ...but wait! it's just good show!!
too bad, i thought you had something there. curious if the rest of your viewers are getting tired of the interplay. probably not, though, since reality shows are so popular and most of them overly-dramatic and low-class: folks like to tune in and watch fake, planned drama.
seriously, mika. the dress thing. for heaven's sake get your seamstress another pattern. it is absurd. you don't have to be a clothes horse, but for heaven's sake, are you afraid to take risks? want the focus to be NOT on your clothes? wearing the same dress every day, even in a different color does the opposite of that.
Ella... totally agree. Mika is totally weak as a progressive. (And she dresses surprisingly bad.)
When I turned on the show this morning I thought I was watching Fox. Joe was falling all over himself about Romney... then they have Dan Senor AND Newt Gingrich on. It was like some sickening righty love fest. Ugh!
I agree with many of you. These people cannot see beyond the politics and the campaign to see this man's pain. I get it because if I lose my job I could end up like his wife. If some of these people on this show were ever in this situation or fears facing it they would understand too. But fortunately for them they are not; but have some compassion, please, for people who are afraid and suffering, Mika, and Joe! When I saw the ad I could relate and the sad part is that millions of people do. Why not talk about the bad things that happened? Why should this campaign try to lie and soften what happens to people when corporations make these decisions? Isn't that being untruthful too. Do they even have any concern for this man's wife? WHAT IS the LOW BLOW IS THE CONVERSATION I AM HEARING ON THE MORNING JOE SHOW!! THEY HAVE NO HEART!!!! If I lose my job and my healthcare I have an illness that I could die from. I get it!!
Priorities USA is correct and just in their ad about the gentleman losing his wife.
It is high time that the real facts of raping and pillaging companies be recognized for what it is - murder! Murder of people, communities, families and above all our country.
Also, the polls in Wisconsin show that they have learned their lesson- a republican govenor is a travesty. Colorado is showing their arrogance by thinking the same thing won't happen to them- why do people want to believe the lies of republicans.
Republican policies value only greed and enslavement. They want a small government that does not protect the people so they can run their scams on the people without consequence..................
Obama/Biden 2012 FORWARD FOR A TRULY DECENT AMERICA !

I get the ad! We are all one heartbeat away from being that gentleman! Apparently MoJoe puts alot of trust and faith in corporations. Give us a break. You guys were just off the mark this morning and totally AWFUL! You're so smart you're stupd!!!
I feel so much better. I felt alone in my feelings about the show, until I read all these posts. Joe,Pipe down, Mica speak up when you hear points that are so clearly untrue. This Ad said it all. Your group needs stronger coffee. Wake up !
