Joe Scarborough is standing by his criticism of the New York Times' coverage of Mitt Romney.
As reported in Politico:
"The New York Times can be as defensive as they want to," Scarborough told POLITICO today. "I love the New York Times, but with all due respect, they're sounding about as thin skinned as the politicians that they cover."
Scarborough kicked off today's edition of Morning Joe by criticizing the paper for running a story about Romney's expansive home in La Jolla, San Diego, on the front page of the House & Garden section, suggesting that the paper prioritized negative coverage of Romney's wealth while not doing the same for Sen. John Kerry during his presidential bid in 2004.
In response, a Times spokesperson provided POLITICO with four articles from 2004 about Kerry's finances, and said any suggestion it had not provided such coverage was "simply not true"...
But Scarborough believes that the four examples provided by the Times do not diminish his larger point, which is that the editors of the Times -- a "center-left" paper -- "sometimes give way too much play to a story that should be knocked down."

Mr. Scarborough, I've taken the time to look at the item "Celebrities Homes" as produced by the New York Times. Jack Nicklaus, John Boehner, yes, even PRESIDENT OBAMA don't even sport the expensive living quarters that Mitt Romney does, with his OTHER 4 PLACES OF RESIDENCE. How can a perswon who is running for the highest office in the land, brag about all his houses? Sounds like a repeat of Mr. McCain's failed bid!!! And as for the John Carey wealth, your remark about his not even allowing "poor??" Mitt Romney to squat in his neck of the woods, is unconscienable. John Carey and his wife, nee Heinz, never raised such a fuss about the media. They were and are what is called "old money", who tend to be more appreciative of all people, unlike the Romneys, who are totally in awe of themselves alone. The very idea of Romney smacking a kid because of his smoking on the beach, is onerous. Nobody elected any Romney the Smoke or noise, or beach police, and hopefully he will never see the Oval Office, nor any other part of the White House!!!
How can anyone defend a man who testified before Congress that the men he served with in Vietnam were baby killers and then tried to pass himself off as a war hero. The swift boat vets showed the world who he really was.
Let me ask you a question Cris C,When Kerry ran for president where was the front page story in the New York Times about his vast wealth? Can it be it's because the N.y. Times is a left wing propaganda machine?
This is just another feeble attack by those on the left to turn people against Mitt Romney. It's hilarious the way liberals resent wealthy conservatives yet they are a party filled with millionaires.
Actually, between 2,000,000 and 3,000,000 Vietnamese peasants were slaughtered during our involvement in their civil war, which extended the mass murder for a decade or more. We were told we had to actively participate in the slaughter to protect the United States from falling dominoes and that was a lie. And in places like My Lai, we murdered more than a few babies and napalmed them all over. So when you and the Swift Boaters deny it, you're the ones lying, absurdly and fatuously. Much of the article here concerns Rombot's gay and lesbian neighbors, who quite justifiably don't appreciate his apparent dislike of them, or the lies he and the other Republicans tell about them. In 2012, Republican=Bigot, and we will not stand for it. And we will not be intimidated by liars like you.
This "journalist" has no clue what news is. Just like all the liberal media out there, he is making a blockbuster out of nothing. I found this pretty cool article that analyses the whole story in a cool way:
I know is early morning but most of the times Scarborough seems out of it. Most of the times you just let him talk and he will contradict himself 3 times in 15 minutes. Micca and his guests are way more prepared than him.
Joe is omitting the context himself because it doesn't support his narrative. The NYT story about John Kerry that Willie quoted during the show ran on the front page just weeks before the election. In 2004, more people actually read the paper version of the Times and were unlikely to miss it. Therefore, its references to the Kerry/Heinz Flemish art collection (so valuable that the insurance co. wishes it not be photographed) would have a greater impact that the early summer story on Mitt's life in LaJolla. Sorry, Joe. Stop twisting yourself into this painful pretzel and just say, "I was wrong."
If there is a more thin skinned Politician or TV talk Host than Pinocchio Joe Scarbobough, Master Media Mainpulator,,,,, Pray tell who. This was a diatribe to n blame Media Bias for Mitt Romney's inability to connect with anyone outside his circle, and I am tired of Joe's don't get me wrong, I love Joe Biden/John Kerry and the NY Times. What Scarborough fails to accept is that most people don't care if Romney can't connect with us,,,,,,the part that he doesn't even know we exist is his problem.
Given the free pass Joe gets from the most extreme right wing circles,,,,I have never heard Limbaugh (thus the rest of the Stefords) say much against him. I have a the feeling his outrage was a diversion from two better stories Morning Joe would not like discussed,,,,,,The Romney Tax return and the Romney responses to Military Service during Viet Nam. The on record comment to the Times is a thinly vieled warning on both.
Very refreshing this morning with Willie hosting the show. It's great to get the news without listing to Joe's rant about back in the day or if he was president what he would do. To Mica, you deserved a day off after yesterday.,
I missed part of the show today. Was there any reference to "The Daily Show" who took "Joeitall" to task for not doing his homework yesterday. Often if not usually there will be at least a snippet but nothing today at least while I was watching. Makes you wonder if "Blowitall"s absence was planned or if he is just a chickenhawk at heart.
Scarborough is worthless, and so is Mark Halperin. Just look at Halperin's goofy smile. What a dick. They have nothing to offer.
There is one person on the show who is not a goldbricker. That's Steve Rattner. It's the only time the show is worth watching.
And ... isn't it obvious how much Willie Geist relished telling Joe Blowhard about the 2004 New York Times article about John Kerry's wealth and elitism? Right there on the show, live. And Joe Blowhard couldn't believe what just happened ... brain freeze.
joe you suckkkk they were yelling romneys name you flipping jurk i will not wath your show again
