A little Zen moment for your Friday morning:
Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., appeared on the PBS program "Christie: On the Line" on Thursday night, and he fielded questions from New Jersey residents. He had a tough time swallowing a question on why he thinks "it's fair to be cutting school funding to public schools" when his children are in private schools. Take a listen.

This man is so brash, ignorant, and shameless, yet you Morning Joe people still like kissing his a*#. You all could probably kiss it at the same time it's so big. All he could have done was explain why they put their kids in private school. He didn't have to talk down to her, like I said he's shameless, no manners at all. Hope his kids learn some in their parochial school. He will NEVER, EVER be President, so keep on wishing. Aren't his popularity going down, too, like the rest of the GOP-Tea party governors?
When you hold a public office, and you make cutting public education a hallmark of your job, yes, it is her business...she's a tax payer and resident of your state!!!!!
I'm a tax-paying resident and I would also like to know. As the head of our state he should set an example in action, not just words.
I wouldn't vote for this guy. I think he or anyone cutting education funding is a putz. He's right, however. It ISN'T anyone's business. He made a decision based on his children's welfare. If you want to make an issue about how he's adversely affected other children's welfare, be my guest. His kids ain't guinea pigs or lab rats!!
He never answered the question. Yes it is none of her business where his kids go to school, but that wasn't the question. The question she asked what why he thinks it is ok to cut funding for public schools when his own children go to a private school. I believe there is some justification in asking the question.
@Former Repub,
Of all the stuff I have read, I believe your quote is the best I've seen in a long time! "It's her business, she's a tax payer and resident of your state!!!
Christie is no different from the majority of professional politicians, sucking at the taxpayer tit and arrogantly refusing to accept by whom they are employed. In the ego-centered hubris, they believe we work for them.
You bought him. The family is not a package deal!
I hope this clip goes viral. The man is so rude, he has no business being in public office. What a bully. Does NJ have recall? I think all of the new crop of nasty, self-entitled, sold-their-souls-to-the-corporate-devils GOP govs should be run out of town.
this guy has been throwing bombs left and right and getting away with it since he was elected. the media portrays it as fiesty and bold.
but this comment??? This is waaaay over the line. This is something that is really going to alienate struggling tax payers.
I shake my head everytime I hear about the GOP dying to make him their savior. This guy is a walking time bomb.
Whatever the merits of the governor's argument there's no excuse for a public official (or anyone else) to be uncivil. He could of simply have said it was a family decision to send their child to a private school without telling the speaker "it was none of her business." We need to reject this kind of discourse by our public officials and certainly not reward them by considering them candidates for higher office.
He plays the "I'm a father" card too much. (vacation in Fla durning our worst blizzard and helicopter ride to his kid's baseball game). I watched the whole interview and he was doing pretty well until ths outburst. Made a fool of himself. He's not ready for prime time.
One of the reasons I love this guy. He tells it like it is. For everyone sick of canned and packaged politicians, CC is the antidote. It's his family. It's his money. It's none of her business.
Its her money her family and her business. She asked him how he could justify it, I agree he should answer the question. Do I care where my governor or any other politician sends their kids to school? No ... but if they are cutting funding for education I want them under a microscope. Republicans are trying to dummy down America to raise a new generation of low paid under educated sheep.
Awesome response by NJ's Gov.!
First: it was a personal question and even though he did not believe it was Gail's business, he did explain why he and his wife chose parochial schooling for their children -so stop bashing on that point.
Second: embedded in his explanation, he gets my support for saying he and his wife made a decision, for their kids, together, that incorporated faith. If you don't think that smacks of integrity, then you've been accepting far too little for far too long from your state leaders (said as an IL resident who did not vote for Ryan or Blago).
Last: he responded professionally in terms of his position - he clearly understands and is committed to overseeing ALL children's education.
Gov. Christie has been trying to woo businesses from IL, but you have to call them as you see them - great response here.
I feel the same way that I did when the decision to send the Clinton child and the Obama children to Sidley Friends School (hope that's the one and the spelling's right) is brought up. It's a parental decision! Make of it what you will!
His explanation was fine....his gratuitous rudeness was not. If it really was none of her business, he should have left it at that. Cheap shots at voters demean his office.
At last a politician who is willing to tell these union stooges where to stick it. Refreshing.
Perhaps you need to look at all of the things the governor has said, he has made it seem as though all government workers are gaming the system and as you say union stooges. This is not true for the most part they work hard and do not take advantage. As a manager of a small business I know that there are people in the private sector who take advantage of the system. Possibly if he and most other politicians would stop playing for the cameras and sound bites and do the job they were elected to do, we would not have the problems in the economy ythat we have.. O, I guess the bankers and wall street people are Unions!!
Get rid of all these arrogant, shameless republican governors.
Who would vote for this POS?
Recall his fatazz.
didn't vote for him the first time around......another governor that screwed us was whitman and her kids went to private school and they were out of state.........what does that tell you.............to those who don't vote pay attention to the finer details of your leaders....do drive by there homes see how they live. as a former resident of mendham, where life is a beautiful thing...........i did not vote for him then nor will vote for him in the future
Absolutely it is Gov. Christie's own business where he sends his children, no one would argue that point, however as you on Morning Joe said "great way to not answer a question." I keep hearing how you all feel, particularly Mika, so impressed with the Governors positions and statements. Well I think it is time that you look at the all of the facts as I don't think you are. As a resident of New Jersey I am offended that he would answer a citizen like that, she was not disrespectful in her questioning and a little tact goes a long way. Perhaps the Governor needs to learn some of the things I learned and I imagine his children are now learning from a parochial education, REPECT, Listening and not being a Bully.
This is why we love this guy in Virginia.
If she really wanted an answer about education cuts, she should have asked a direct question. I loved his answer and it isn't any of her business. Had she left his family out and actually asked a thoughtful question, he would have given her one. I think the guy has great gumption and frankly we don't need to hear about his weight or his children - I love how progressives are indignant that Weiner was asked where his wife was but feel free to question how Christie educates his own children (when our president chooses private school for his children too).
for all the people voted there ding-bats into office in cluding the govs of wisconsin and florida, u get what u voted for. next time do the research and quit listening too the conservatives radio and tv ding-bats. and if by chance there is a repub in the white house in 2012, we will find out predident oboma was not that bad after all. how can anyone vote for people who r not for the middle class and steady giving too the rich. i question the intelligence of the electra.
Hey Govenor Fat-ass why do you take helicopters to private events? Oops that is probably not my business as well.
The bottom-line here is that cutting funding for public-education is another way for the Republican holier than thouers to promulgate their religious education agenda. This started 15 years ago and now one can see what is really happening.
Are the "SOPRANOS" back on television?
This was a call-in show ... she was not "confrontational" and he says:
What's her name? Gail ... well GAIL it's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!
Oh please, oh please let Christie run for the POTUS. This is priceless!
