On a special May 26th episode of Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski will share her suggestions on how women can reach their full value. The program is inspired by Mika's bestselling book where she interviewed prominent men and women from all lines of work and discovered that she was not alone with the career and money mistakes she had made along the way. The special show will continue the conversations about gender inequalities in the workplace and discuss practical tactics for negotiating from a place of power and communicating your value to get deserved compensation.
Guests will include Donny Deutsch, NBC's Norah O'Donnell, Tina Brown, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, singer/songwriter Carole King, CBS' Lesley Stahl, Sen. Claire McCaskill, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Bravo's Andy Cohen, and Cosmopolitan Editor In Chief Kate White.

Why has Ledbetter Act not had greater impact in on pay ratio discrepancy?
My question: I have two college-age daughters. What advice can I give them just starting out, that can help overcome the culture of undervaluing their work? They don't have much leverage at a beginning salary.
Thanks,
MH
This question is for Carole King. Did you have any clue that the huge success of your Tapistry album would be the album to open the door for women songwriters? That being said, How could you not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an artist? What more do you have to do to be recogonized by them? The answer is quite simple---------nothing!
Most companies I worked for have several women as mid-level managers, with men at the top. These women are insecure about their jobs and keep the women underneath them from getting too much attention or accolades for their contributions. How do you deal with these insecure mid-level female managers who keep the women below them from moving up?
Possible reasons young women do not want to get into leadership roles in college and politics... Distaste for outright lying (as it appears to be required) and the understanding that everything they say will be twisted by someone.
Ex: Refer to how the committee leadership treated Elizabeth Warren... Unexcusable.
The point of Donny Deutsch's comment that women and men are different was missed by everyone on the set. More than men, women need to be physically attractive to be successful. Grooming and makeup and clothing are important. If a woman pays no attention to her personal appearance, because she thinks her skills are the only important thing, she is mistaken.
Why didn't you ask the simple question to Paul Ryan, what will his plan cost the elderly vs todays Medicare? Simple question that would explain why we ( everyone that will retire on a fixed income ) think the Ryancare plan will increase income to insurance companies and reduce my wallet for thing like FOOD ! You need a strong Dem on your show !
I think women are gettting degrees in areas that they know they will have jobs when they graduate especially in this economy. That may be why there is a decline in certain areas that women used to be more involved in.
As we speak, I'm uploading an Android copy of Donny Deutsch speaking about parents instilling a Can Do attitude in their children ... boys and girls ... and Mika's speach about Pushing Back
My comments will include ...
I definitely think as many as possible should know and understand the concepts of setting and achieving positive goals ...
It is about a "way" of "thinking" that one chooses each day, each time. One can think more than one way but one chooses a way that increase the odds of achievement ... at least that's one way of "thinking." I do believe I am better off when in the presence of others to have those others be positive goal seekers ... men or women, boys or girls.
Mika's comments about pushing back are interesting ... as she speaks of the manager and the red beret. I would like to add to the positive ideas Mika is offering the notion that my experience includes having "pushed back" and heard these immortal words ...
SoCooL Bob ... You're Fired
I, too, am the kind who puts in the extra two hours whether I specifically get paid for them or not. I, in fact, come closer to adopting the notion that if it's something positive, I'm going to pursue it as best I can ... boss or not ... getting paid or not. If I hadn't done that for a long time, there would be no or
I am, however, ALSO interested in "getting paid."
Perhaps, Mika would like to "Push Back" my way by:
Making me an senior, semi-disabled, West Coast late morning correspondent.
Contributing to my enterprise and chemotherapy survival.
Good Idea!
